Roses in loose brushstrokes

I found time yesterday to quickly and loosely paint these roses.
I hope you are all having a good start of the year.  Have a wonderful day.

LOOSE FLORAL PAINTING

I painted these florals very loosely. I've been enjoying this painting style lately.
Have a wonderful holiday season.

Papaya Fruits

My reference photo for these papaya fruits was taken in the Philippines when I was there. Actually, there are many papaya varieties in the country. These fruits in the painting are somewhat big in size, probably a piece can range from a kilo or more.

Happy days ahead every one.

Red Hollyhock

A quick painting of red hollyhock flowers, in watercolor, 24 x 30 cm. This is based from the hollyhock plant that is still standing next to the light post in our parking lot.

Have a wonderful weekend.

A Tree Trunk

Yesterday, the sun showed up a little bit so I went for a short walk. Along the way, I saw lots of leaves of beautiful colors and some types of mushrooms scattered on the ground. What a wonderful day, I said to myself. I felt very thankful that I could still experience and enjoy such nature's beauty. About this tree trunk, I doodled it months ago while trying my  new purchased watercolor paper.

May you all have happy days ahead.

Warm up sketch

Before I work on a painting, usually I do first a small sketch as a warm up exercise.
This rose sketch is from last year.

A shell on top of a shoe shelve

I have this shell. It has been with me for a long time. Probably one of my nephews got it somewhere. It is quite big.

Painting Roses on Valentine's Day.

I spent some minutes on Valentine's Day to quickly paint these roses. I always enjoy this kind of fast and quick painting exercise. Usually I don't do pencil sketch when I do this exercise. This painting is about 30x40 cm in size and done with watercolor.

Merry Christmas

I'm wishing every one a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. I hope you are all doing well despite the pandemic that we are all experiencing now. Thank you for your friendship. Hugs.

I sketched these flowers based from the Adenium plant growing on the balcony of the house I stayed in the Philippines during my long stay there due to Covid-19 lockdowns.

Pushkin's Cottage

Alexander Pushkin is a Russian poet that was exiled in Chisinau, Moldova. Last summer, while on holiday in that country, we visited the museum that was named after him. In the museum is the cottage where he lived. It was from one of the photos I made that I based the above painting.

A front yard rose in our neighborhood

Watercolor, 21x29.7 cm
This rose flower is not yet fully opened but it's petals are already beginning to wilt, with dark brownish color on their edges. Probably because it is one of the last blooms of the season, and the weather is becoming unpleasant. Saw this flower during one of our walking exercises around our neighborhood along Hulsmaatstraat street.

A plate of fruits

A week ago I didn't know what to paint. Then I thought of our available fruits in the kitchen and then set them up on our breakfast plate. And here is the painting version of that set up.

The roses in my mind last week

This is a small piece (6 x 4 inches) which I painted loosely during my painting exercises last week. Painting loosely means I paint directly on paper without pencil sketch or drawing. I enjoy this painting process very much because my hand is not restricted by any drawing lines.

Loose watercolor roses

These past days I have little time to paint. However I managed to do painting exercises in which I produced some loose small paintings, just like these roses.

Two ripe peaches

Before, we usually avoid buying peaches even if there are plenty of them in the supermarket. The reason was that we do not know when they are ready to be eaten. One time we tried, the taste was not good.  However, recently we found out that we need to wait until the fruit is ripe. That is when the peel of the fruit can be easily removed from its flesh.
This painting is in watercolor. I think I should further darken the shadow at the base of the fruits.

'Puntpaprika'

In Dutch, this long red pepper is called Puntpaprika. It is described as having a sweet taste and contains Vitamin C just like an orange. It can be eaten raw or can be prepared just like a usual bell pepper. This painting is done in watercolor.

Magenta shade rose

I used watercolors in this magenta shade rose.
